Salicylic acid and sulfur topical (for the skin) work together to soften scales and psoriasis plaques and cause shedding of the outer layer of skin. The combination of hydrocortisone, salicylic acid, and sulfur is used to treat inflammation, itching, flaking, scaling, and other symptoms of scalp psoriasis or seborrheic dermatitis.
