If you are taking Dilatrate-SR for chest pain, it will not treat chest pain as it happens. This medicine is only used to prevent or lower the number of chest pain attacks. If you have been taking this medicine for a long time without a break, it may not work as well. This is known as tolerance. Be sure to have a "nitrate-free" period of time each day.
